National Whale & Dolphin Watch 2024

Sea Watch Foundation invites you to join National Whale and Dolphin Watch 2024, a week long citizen science event dedicated to studying and protecting cetaceans in UK waters.

By taking part National Whale and Dolphin Watch, the data you submit plays a invaluable role in understanding cetacean distribution, abundance, and population trends, as well as, increase publice awareness about the incredible whales, dolphins and porpoises that inhabit our seas. All you need to do is turn your eyes to the sea to help out!

We welcome volunteers and observers with all levels of expertise! Upon registering to conduct watches for National Whale and Dolphin Watch, you’ll be invited to a free online training evening hosted by our Sightings Officer and Communications and Outreach Officer. You’ll learn about cetacean identification & behaviour, data collection protocols, and responsible observation practices.

For more information and to register your interest in getting involved, download the Registration Form below!

This year we are trying to go as paperless as possible so we are encouraging everyone to do their surveys and report their sightings using our free SeaWatcher App which can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple Store. You can find out more information on how to use our App here.
