We asked you to submit your choice of names for one of the newest members of the Cardigan Bay bottlenose dolphin gang and we have shortlisted our favourite three!
Now, we need your help to choose your favourite from the shortlist.
Please comment below to cast your vote and the name with the most votes on all of our platforms at 11am on Friday 11th November will be the winning entry.
The options are:
Double Trouble – we don’t think this choice needs much explaination, double the dolphin, twice the fun!
Dylan – we thought this was doubly appropriate given the song ‘Trouble’ by Bob Dylan and also because Dylan Thomas famously lived in, and wrote from, New Quay where we have seen the new calf.
Doublet – We thought this was a subtly clever option. Aside from spelling “Double-T” (or double-trouble), according to the Oxford Living Dictionary it means ‘a pair of similar things’, or ‘a pair of associated lines close together in a spectrum or electrophoretic gel’ which we thought was really apt considering the way that bottlenose dolphin calves stick by their mothers in the ‘echelon position’.
With thanks to everyone who took part by submitting their name choice and to Ali Williams, Sian Jones and Karen Barr for their short-listed entries.
