Another great day has passed and no one has lost their great spirits. So many volunteer observers join the John O’Groats ferries every morning and every afternoon. In sunny, windy, rainy and foggy days there are always observers at Duncansby looking out for fins, for blows, for any signs of whales or dolphins.
A whale is sighted, on the east side of the Lighthouse at Duncansby Head. The whale surfaced a couple of times heading north before going for a deep dive. During the afternoon there is also a pod of Risso’s dolphins off Stroma, harbour porpoises and seals with are sighted by two volunteers stationed at Dunnet Head. Orcas got also sighted off Fraserburgh (Grampian) and off Tolsta Hd (Isle of Lewis).
