‘You can see all those species of whale and dolphin here!?’ was something North West Regional Coordinator Stacey McCarthy heard many times this weekend. She was representing Sea Watch at the event Love Our Estuary in Lytham, Lancashire. Here she was joined by local Sea Watch volunteer Nick Walters to spread the word about the whales and dolphins seen in the area. This event was hosted by the Friends of the Estuary Coastal Care Group, a group of local volunteers with the aim of improving the condition and appearance of the Ribble Estuary in Lancashire.

The Love Our Estuary open day took place at The Old Lifeboat Station in Lytham over the bank holiday weekend. The sun was shining and lots of people came out to enjoy the weather and learn more about local wildlife. It proved very popular with families, and lots of the children were really interested in hearing about all our adoptable dolphins.
People of all ages were surprised to hear that Lancashire has regular sightings of many species of whale and dolphin, particularly bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoise and even the occasional minke whale!
