The animal that was first sighted yesterday off Hemsby has been repeatedly seen off Hornsy today and lucky observers have been able to capture some photographs of the animal. Andrew Easton has kindly sent his shots over to us and these are included in this post below.
Regional coordinator, Carl Chapman reported that the animal is feeding with an entourage of gannets but is 2-3 miles out.
This is the first humpback whale sighting in Norfolk waters ever recorded in the Sea Watch Foundation’s National Sightings database. Last month, humpback whale was observed off Suffolk and previously to that the closest observations of this species were recorded off Spurn Point, East Riding of Yorkshire (September 2010) and off Kent (September 1988, April 2006 and November 2008).
