Flintshire locals were witness to the unusual sight of a common dolphin breaching in the River Dee this week. Common dolphins are generally seen offshore often in large groups so this lone animal is unusual in more ways than one. The animal was first seen on Monday 19th and continued to progress upstream until Thursday 22nd when it was rescued by a team of marine mammal medics from British Divers Marine Life Rescue.
Video footage of the rescue available here.
