With reports of the UK’s second ever bowhead whale sighting off Cornwall in the middle of May, there has since been a sighting of a bowhead whale off Ireland too! Seen on 29th May, it’s the first confirmed sighting of the species off Ireland and it would also be just the fourth sighting in Europe! It’s is likely that this could be the same individual that was photographed off Brittany in France before being recorded in Mount’s Bay in Cornwall, having swam up the Irish Sea undetected.
