On Wednesday the 21st of August, 2013 a small pod of four bottlenose dolphins were spotted off of the Sussex coast. This unusual sighting was reported to the Sea Watch Foundation by (H. Dealans?) who spotted the group of dolphins bowriding next to a ferry at approximately 2:30 pm, from his fishing boat. While the UK is home to one of the largest bottlenose dolphin populations in Europe they tend to congregate in very specific locations, and it is unusual to spot them outside of these areas. There is a population centred around the Moray Firth in Scotland, a smaller group off of the Pembrokeshire coast, and the largest population of bottlenose dolphins in the UK is found around Cardigan Bay in West Wales
