On the 28th of April 2016 a BBC film crew was visiting our Sea Watch team in New Quay. It was a big spring event for the Sea Watch Foundation.
The crew was documenting the research work of our team and followed us the whole day in the office, as well as on the sea. The day started in the early morning for our team, composed of Kathy (Sightings Officer), Katrin (Monitoring Officer), Sonia (Research Assistant) and two of our research interns (Heidi and Derry). All the equipment had to be prepared for the boat survey around 9 am. But before the boat trip the crew filmed our research interns observing dolphins from the pier with a drone. After it, the entire team got on board of Dunbar Castle II to go out on water. The sea was really rough and wavy on this day. But the entire Sea Watch team tried their best to find dolphins and show BBC why we are doing this kind of research. During the spotting break the Countryfile crew did some interviews with our interns and staff.

After 6 hours of filming on board, the shoot continued in the office. BBC wanted to get know every side of Sea Watch from boat surveys and land watches to office work and data entry. We are already really excited to see the result of a long day of shooting.
