Aims and Objectives

Working with the public, the Sea Watch Foundation is a national charity, dedicated to the conservation and protection of whales, dolphins & porpoises in British & Irish waters.

Each year, cetaceans face depletion in their numbers and even possible local extinction due to continuing threats to their habitat such as capture and drowning in fishing gear, sound disturbance, marine pollution and over-fishing.

Sea Watch, through its continuous programme of research and monitoring, provides invaluable information on changes to the status and distribution of cetacean populations and the condition of their habitats. This is used to raise awareness of any issues and prompt environmental change to help conserve & protect these mysterious creatures.

Conservation and protection

Sea Watch works tirelessly with environmental and government bodies to provide information, data and evidence leading to the better protection and conservation of cetacean populations in British and Irish waters.

Scientific Research

Sea Watch initiates research projects throughout UK, with intensive studies in the Hebrides, Grampian region, Irish Sea and English Channel.
